On Monday afternoon I went to a talk at UCLA by Eric Shanower concerning his epic comic-book adaptation of the Trojan Wars, Age of Bronze. It was an almost religious experience, a conjunction of two of my greatest passions if you will. The talk itself was extremely interesting, and Mr. Shanower proved very approachable and friendly. Do check out Age of Bronze - it is the kind of project that only dedicated diligence, and powerful draughtsmanship can produce, and is beautiful to behold.
Just finished watching Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, which is unbelievably awesome. If you are a fan of any one of a) Robert Downey Jr., b) Val Kilmer, c) Los Angeles, d) Raymond Chandler, e) funny and engaging movies, f) all of the above, it is a must-see. And it's written and directed by Shane Black, who, besides writing most of the Lethal Weapon movies and Last Action Hero, played, of course, Hawkins in fucking Predator! Get to da choppah!
And this is pretty much the greatest feat of human ingenuity I have seen in a while.
Oh yeah, and I broke my foot.
