I stole the title of this entry from someone else. Yes, it's all done. All this semester's assignments (and last semester's!), and all my grading for Classical Mythology. I can't quite believe it - I was waking up in panic on Friday thinking I still had more lit. reports to write. Now the summer stretches out before me, a golden land of opportunity, waiting to be filled with Greek and Driving. These two projects (and Comic-Con!) are my only focus for the next few months. And, of course, getting my level back up on Halo 2. 'natch.
My birthday was on Saturday, and it was a most enjoyable day. Claudia had our class over for brunch, which was served on her patio in sunny Santa Monica. She even got me a cake. I chose to laze the day away with video games before meeting people at the bar that evening. Lucas calls me shortly before the appointed time and bullies me into going over to Phil's for pre-bar drinks, despite the fact it would make us late. But the Irresistible Force won. We say hi to Del and Steve, who are outside smoking, then I follow Lucas in. I only have a brief time moment to ponder why the lights aren't on, before everyone yells "SURPRISE!". They got me good. The bastards. Anyway, it turns out we were having a party there instead, which suited me just fine, and was a complete blast. Steve span tunes from Killswitch Engage to Freezepop, while Phil cajoled everybody into drinking too much (even Candace did half a shot!). Dan had made an ice-cream cake, no less. I got some nice gifts and cards, and shortly thereafter lost the ability to remember. But I know we went on to Ye Rustic, and had more drinks. And then Steve (whose flight was leaving in a few short hours) led a small band of survivors to Fred 62's. I think I only had a couple of bites of my pancake before I decided I needed to get home, sharpish.
Saturday was good. Sunday was horrible...
