Sorry I've been so quiet lately - been busy because my mum's in town, and will continue to be even after she leaves what with all the work I haven't been doing! Beau's bachelor party won't help with that either (Vegas, baby! VEGAS!), but hopefully at some point it will all even out.
I really enjoyed Hostage. Yes, it was a cliche, but, as anybody who reads this with any regularity will be aware, so long as it is a well-executed cliche, I'm happy. Of course, I am also a Bruce Willis fan. I pretty much celebrate the man's entire catalogue. Don't let anyone tell you this is just Die Hard. That's a simplistic brush-off. He's not playing John McClane here (though he will be again soon!). Ben Foster steals the show, though the Virgin Mary bit was probably one step too far (you'll see).
American Gods is a very good book, though also very bizarre. I guess I've read too many straightforward novels, because I was never quite comfortable with Neil Gaiman's slightly meandering narrative (though it was always intriguing). I shall have to read Neverwhere soon.
