I genuinely enjoyed Constantine. It goes without saying that it looked really good. The special effects and cinematography were excellent, and I was pleased that the movie was allowed to embrace its R-rating, even if there were no titties or nothin'. It was actually a reasonably intelligent script, that worked hard to confound one's expectations at every turn. Constantine himself was a good anti-hero, and Keanu was decent in the role. The supporting cast was competent, with particularly good turns from Tilda Swinton and Peter Stormare. It was dark and twisted throughout, with some nice comic touches - I thought they made the correct choice in giving the audience the opportunity to laugh at some of the occult twaddle they were peddling. Though I have never read Hellblazer, as a movie it is certainly one of the best comic adaptations of the recent batch. Much better than Blade: Trinity, which probably rates as my biggest disappointment of 2004. I have discovered there is an extra scene after the credits which I missed, so if you go it's apparently worth waiting until the end.
One of my new favourite things is the Clorox Bleach Pen. I've been working away at some of the grouting in my bath-tub, which I had previously thought blackened for all eternity. But slowly I am driving the dark contaminant back with surgical strikes from the Pen, and the bath has never looked better. Fascinating, no?
The other day I was privy to some interesting dialogue on the Southbound 754. Apparently Oscar De La Hoya was not only rigging some big boxing match this weekend by slipping pills into one fighter's water, but he is also involved in a conspiracy to alter one of the verses of the bible. He's working to silence the individual sharing this information, because he thinks with his money he can do anything. Reckless fool!
Some days I love public transport.
