...was surprisingly enjoyable, as a by-the-numbers science fiction/action thriller. Yes, it was very predictable, and the final scene was a bit too Michael Bay, but the special effects were perfect and the action sequences suitably fun. The future they created was nicely realized, not too advanced from our own (except for the robots and the obligatory future-cars), and it was refreshing to see Alex Proyas craft a world utterly unlike that of the The Crow or Dark City. Some of Will Smith's dialogue was a little too silly - I wish they would have made his character a little straighter - but to his credit he was jacked up like the Rock or Vin Diesel. Seriously, the guy is huge in this movie. The misunderstood detective, though a cliche, is always enjoyable. So yes, thumbs up.
