I watched Super Size Me last night. I know it's the cliched response, but what a scary movie. Obviously I knew McDonalds was bad for you, but the actual caloric contents of everything they sell was mind-blowing. And what it does to Morgan Sperlock's body in just one month. He put on 25lbs in just one month. It's odd, because I actually made a conscious decision to try and avoid McDonald's two and a half years ago, because I felt I'd eaten too much of it in my undergraduate years. I've only had it two or three times that I can remember since May of 2002. That isn't to say I gave up junk food. I can still occasionally be seen in their rival's locations (especially In 'N Out!), and, unfortunately, I love me my Taco Bell. But the movie did make me think. I especially took to heart the thing about drinking your calories - I have been mostly successful in switching to diet soda over the last year, and hopefully this will give me the impetus to make the switch completely. I still can't find the stomach to read Fast Food Nation, though.
Oh, and I will never, ever eat Chicken McNuggets again.

I haven't eaten McDonalds since I saw the movie. Did you watch the extra where he shows how long it takes for various foods to decompose? The french fries never do! I loved me some McDonalds fries, but that is just horrifying. I have of course eaten other fast food since, but I've cut back drastically.

Yes, I saw that! I'm curious how long they would have survived if he hadn't thrown them out. Imagine that in your colon! At least at In 'N Out or Fatburger they make it fresh in front of you - not like those cold burgers you get served at Carls Jr (which is also off the list).
